Personal
Hugh Evans is an Australian humanitarian. Evans is the co-founder of both The Oaktree Foundation and the Global Poverty Project. The aims of Global Citizen, the organization Evans founded in 2008 (originally as the Global Poverty Project) with an overall goal to end extreme poverty by 2030.
Social Entrepreneurship
In 2008, Evans along with his friend Simon Moss, launched Global citizens (The Global Poverty Project), which is committed to ending extreme poverty by 2030, because of the collective actions of Global Citizens across the world. Through Global Citizen platform you can learn about issues, take action on what matters most and join a community committed to social change. Evans throws big awareness campaigns like the Global Citizen Festival, where people had to take "actions" online – like tweeting about poverty or watching educational YouTube videos–to earn points that could be redeemed for tickets.

Since 2012, millions of Global Citizens around the world have taken over ten million actions to solve the world's biggest challenges. That’s ten million emails, tweets, petition signatures and phone calls targeting world leaders to end extreme poverty by 2030. To date, the actions by global community along with high level advocacy efforts and with their partners, have resulted in 130 commitments and policy announcements from leaders, including financial aid valued at over $30 billion that is set to affect the lives of 1 billion people.
